Lucas Ribeiro Costa all-but clinches Golden Boot award
Barring a miracle of epic proportions, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Lucas Ribeiro Costa has won the 2024/25 Betway Premiership top goal scorer award.

Barring a miracle of epic proportions, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Lucas Ribeiro Costa has clinched the 2024/25 Betway Premiership top goal scorer award.
After Masandawana completed their league assignments with a 2-0 win over Magesi FC on Sunday, Costa finished on 16 goals.
That put him two ahead of team-mate Iqraam Rayners.
Next best is a trio of players on eight goals. They all need to DOUBLE their current tally in their remaining match(es) to catch Costa.
Last season, Orlando Pirates’ Tshegofatso Mabasa proved to be the deadliest striker in Mzansi with 16 goals – a tally Costa matches this time around.
Once again, no one broke – or came even close – the all-time PSL record of 25 goals held by Zambia’s Collins Mbesuma while playing for Kaizer Chiefs in the 2004/05 season.
