Affluent businessman Johann Rupert has clarified that violent crime does not only affect white people but all races in South Africa.

The billionaire is among President Cyril Ramaphosa’s delegation that met with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Wednesday, 21 May.

The Presidency said the purpose of the visit is to reset and revitalise bilateral relations between South Africa and the United States. In this regard, the visit will focus specifically on reframing bilateral, economic and commercial relations.

JOHANN RUPERT SAYS CRIME IN SA DOESN’T AFFECT ONLY WHITE FARMERS

Despite the South African government disputing the white genocide myth several times, even through diplomatic channels, Trump insists that Afrikaners are under persecution in South Africa.

Last Monday, a group of 49 Afrikaners, including children landed in the US. This, after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order granting white farmers asylum, falsely saying they were being persecuted, and the South African government was confiscating their land and farms without compensation.

During the visit, Trump ambushed Ramaphosa and his delegation about farm murders and land expropriation without compensation.

Trump even went as far as handing out articles about farm attacks and murders in South Africa. He also played videos of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema singing the chant ‘Kill the Boer, kill the farmer’ and questioned why Malema has not been arrested for his utterances.

In March, the Constitutional Court’s decision to dismiss lobby group AfriForum’s leave to appeal the Supreme Court of Appeal’s decision which ruled that the ‘Kill the Boer, Kill the farmer’ chant does not constitute hate speech.

In response to the alleged white genocide, Johann Rupert said the main issue in South Africa is crime and it doesn’t affect white farmers only, but it’s across the board.

“It’s not only white farmers, it’s across the board. We need technological help, we need Starlink at every police station, we need drones,” he said as he pleaded for help to deal with crime in SA.

Rupert said the country has a serious problem of illegal immigrants and unemployment which contributes to the overall high rate of crime.

SOUTH AFRICANS PRAISE BUSINESSMAN

Following Rupert’s response to Trump, South Africans took to social media to praise the businessman “for being patriotic”.

On X (formerly Twitter) @nkosanap said Johann Rupert spoke nothing but the truth “there is no targeted killing of white farmers in South Africa”.

“Johann Rupert even told Donald Trump and the world about the illegal foreigner problems in South Africa and that they are killing farmers and committing crimes. Our own leaders even refuse to talk about these things. Wow!” @JesseFJacobs said.

“I know some people will try to make this a controversial topic, but it’s not. Johann Rupert is a real true patriot for doing what he has done. He represented us as a country very well. He is not a politician and he spoke with the elegance of an experienced diplomat.” @khayadlanga also wrote.

SA HAS ONE OF THE HIGHEST MURDER RATES IN THE WORLD

In February, the South African Police Service (SAPS) released the crime stats for the third quarter (1 October to 31 December) of the 2024/2025 financial year with a notable decrease in crime levels.

Despite the improvement, however, the country still recorded an alarming number of murders in the full calendar year, delivering a murder rate of 42 per 100,00 people, this is one of the highest rates in the world, BusinessTech reported.

The publication further reported that a 1.6% reduction in contact crimes, including drops in murder, attempted murder and sexual offences was recorded. There was also a 13.5% drop in property-related crimes like burglary and theft and a 5.1% drop in other serious crimes.

DO YOU THINK RAMAPHOSA AND HIS DELEGATION SUCCEEDED IN DISPELLING THE MYTH OF WHITE GENOCIDE?
